Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, use a mixer to cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop dough onto the baking sheets using a cookie scoop, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 9-11 minutes or until the edges are golden and the centers look slightly underbaked.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, use room-temperature butter and chill the dough for 30 minutes if you prefer thicker cookies. Store baked cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
